Title: Is Steven Spielberg losing his touch? A review of Disclosure Day

picked up a $10 discount coupon and decided to check out Steven Spielberg’s latest, Disclosure Day. Seeing that the movie had very few showtimes, I had a hunch it might be struggling. Still, for $5, I figured, "Why not?"

As it turns out, my bad feeling was right. The film was a disappointment.

1. A 2000s Taken-era script in 2026?

The movie is full of "hooks" and mysteries, yet it fails to resolve a single one of them. It feels like watching an early 2000s action movie dragged into 2026. The action lacks punch, the occult elements are lukewarm, and the Roswell mystery is barely scratched on the surface. Everything felt unfinished and hollow.

2. Wasting Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt is front and center on the poster, but in the film, she hardly feels like a lead character at all. It’s frustrating to see such a talented actor given so little to work with.

3. The melancholy of a fading legend

I felt a bit uneasy after watching The Fabelmans, and Disclosure Day unfortunately confirmed those fears. It’s hard to say, but this film simply doesn't fit the Spielberg standard. Walking out of the theater, the only thought on my mind was: "Even the greats are not immune to the passage of time."
